Where did that name come from? Well, it just kind of happened that way. We started out with our first Shiloh
Hamish. He instantly became the light of our lives but we had no intentions of really being anything more than owners of a "Shiloh Shepherd Dog." We read the guidelines on registered names for the TSSR registry but we had no plans on ever getting so involved with the breed we would need to
think about a kennel name. Now, I'm just terrible at choosing a name my last dog
was named Dawg for goodness sakes so having to choose a
call name AND a registered name was enough to make my eyes cross.
Our lives are heavily influenced by our Celtic heritage and "Mac" to the Scottish carried the
meaning "son of." OK, Hamish is the son of Kota and is from Shenandoah Kennels so he became
Hamish MacKota of Shenandoah. Phew! Pretty simple, eh? Who knew these decisions were ones
that dictated what the future held for us.

Enter Shiloh Shepherd number two, how did THAT happen? We always knew he'd be Gareth "Mac" something as we
had started something there. Well, as the fates would have it another Kota son came into our
lives, and we had Gareth's name, B&T Rising Star Gareth MacKota. B&T was in honor of
B&T Shilohs who own Kota and whom we purchased Gareth, and Rising Star was in honor of where
he was born, Star Shilohs in Utah.
Well, that kind of sealed it for us, as by this point it only seemed logical to have Mac Shilohs as our kennel name.
